  1. The skin has melanin (skin pigmentation) that reacts to light by getting darker ie. more brown.
    So if the baby has been exposed to light, it’s skin is going to react by getting darker.

  2. African American genes are dominant and this is one of the reasons why it gets darker at times, not saying all multi-racial children do, but the most will have a honey tone or even bronze.
