I Am Having A Mixed Baby And Was Wondering What Color Will The Baby Look Like Me Or The Dad?

I am having a mixed baby and was wondering what color will the baby look like me or the dad? I am white and the babys dad is black. I know when i have the baby , he/she will look white-ish or more red but i wonder how long will it take for the babys skin to get darker?

depends. My friend is like that though she looks full black around black people and could pose as a white person around whites. She’s a deep tan. In between. It depends. Does it matter though?

Your baby will be beautiful, know that. An in between shade of you and the father, but if your genes are stronger, the baby will be more light than dark and vice versa. Your baby will look like an ordinary white baby right after birth, but about 5-6mnths old he/she will get her real color

Skin color is determined by a combination of genes, and the baby will have some characeristics from both of you. He/she will probably be lighter than Dad, darker than you. How wide is that range? Many Black Americans have some European ancestry, and if your man is one of these, there is even a slight possibilty that your child will have few African characteristics. But the genes for many African traits are dominant, so the odds are that your child will have at least a few of the traits carried by the father.
I wish you joy in this new undertaking.

The baby may look a combination of both of you. You know for sure your baby will be very good looking.

Hey Amanda, There is no right answer to this question. Genetics are getting better but mother nature has a sense of humor. Your child can come out looking exactly like you or exactly like the father. or… something in between. Also the gene can stay hidden for a generation or two. and the racial traits can surface when your child has children. Its all part of the fun of have a kid. Good luck!

The baby may be your color, his color, or somewhere in the middle. The color may or may not change with age. There’s no way to say for sure.

The baby will be more white when born but will darken as it gets older… If the dad is pretty dark the child will probably be pretty dark ( usually not as dark …) They usually get darker when the child is closer to a few weeks to months.

You’ll have to wait until your bundle is born!
However more than likely, the baby will look pale when born and become darker over time.

why does color matter? and, who could possibly know who a baby is going to resemble before it is born? not to be harsh, but please don’t get hung up on color for your baby’s sake. sort out this color thing before your baby is born, because you’re going to be his/her main supporter. and, if you are colorstruck now, i fear for the rejection that your baby is going to feel from you later in his/her life.

It took my son 4 months and he is still changing every day. It all depends how dark the father is.

skin color isn’t a simple gene like some are..its a mixing one..expect a baby that’s right in the middle. But skin isnt like paint where white + black = gray, its more like tan + dark brown = light to meduim brown. You can safely expect brown eyes though.

You can’t really know. I’m mixed and I don’t really look like either my mother or father. Some babies I’ve seen either look more like one or the other.
Babies tend to darken months to years after they are born. I did.

its hard to tell. my best friend has two mixed kids who are light brown skinned and look fully black and have ever since a few months old. My little girl on the other hand has all of her father (who is black) features down to the booty but has my complexion and my hair color. i have another friend who has a DNA proven mixed baby with blonde hair and blue eyes. So its hard to tell until you have the baby.

stop stating you’re having a mixed baby. U R HAVING A BABY! it shouldn’t matter if he/she is mixed! No matter what anybody else says it can go either way. Just enjoy him/her – after all, it’s the only way YOU become immortal.

It depends on whose genes are dominate there’s endless possibilities. The baby can be dark and people think came from two black parents, could be tan with tight curls, could be tan with your hair, could even be white. Just depends on what genes took over during gestation. The baby will be beautiful. The skin color is usually seen for sure a few months after.

It should not matter to you one way or the other first and foremost.second it depends on whose genes are stronger and a bunch of other biological things. Bottom line is love the child no matter what and do not sweat the small stuff worry about them growing up secure and with a lot of love.

Mostly the baby will look like the dad since it is the “daddy’s” sperm cells ebtering you and probly 5-7 weeks the skin will change

My son-in-law is 50% black and 50% white (but looks 100% black because his father is extremely dark). My daughter is 100% white (we like to say “Ghost”, she is so white). They just blessed me with a beautiful grandson in early April. He has his father’s facial features exactly…but his skin color, eye, and hair color are all my daughter’s. He is very white, has bright blue eyes, and strawberry blonde hair. Mixed children normally take up to five yrs to get as dark as they are going to though. My 10yr old grand-daughter is 50% white and 50% hispanic and she got a little darker each yr til she was five. Looks white with a slight tan. She has light brown hair and hazel eyes.
It will be up in the air till your baby is here. They are all individuals and there is really no way to tell what to expect. It will be a fun surprise even if you know the sex first. :0) Congrats! Love them like there is no tomorrow…for in the blink of an eye, they are grown.

Why you worry about the skin colour?
It is your baby, you give birth to it.
Anyway time will tell, but you still his/her parents.

I’m in the same situation. I’m white & my fiance is black. I’m due July 6 and we have 3D pics from the ultrasound so we know what his face looks like, but not what color he is. I guess it will just be a surprise!

hard to say precisely… it varies with your personal genes

My children are mixed and it’s a hard thing to tell. Generally, they will develope a color medium to that of the parents. Often though, the children will have slightly different skin tones from each other, one being slightly darker, one slightly lighter. It is very rare for them to be as light or as dark as either or the parents. But genetics is a very diffucult thing to predict since it is so varied and complex. There are many genes just for skin tone alone. The baby’s color is usually set after a couple months and most likely will not change after that.
