There are a lot of studies saying the baby feels more secure if they have direct skin to skin contact as soon as they're born with their mama. Not sure why but I know as soon as my baby is born (when I eventually get pregnant) I want my husband to help deliver baby, cut the cord and bring baby straight to me before baby is cleaned and checked and everything and then feed baby.
